What is shared web hosting? It simply means that you share the disk space on the web server with other users. You sign up for a web hosting account with a web host and pay a fee to get space on their web server. The fee can be paid monthly, but you will save more money by paying yearly or even two yearly. You will be given a login name and password to enable you to access your web space (the other users are not able to access your web space).

Most web hosts have a control panel to enable you to manage your web site. Some web hosts have a file manager to allow you to upload files to your web site but most webmasters prefer to use an FTP program to do this as it is much quicker and easier.
